ANIMUSE Project Officer – Antimicrobial Resistance and Veterinary Products Department – WOAH HQ, Paris, France

Context

Job Description
Positioning and reporting

Under the authority of the Deputy Director General (International Standards and Science) and direct supervision of the Antimicrobial Resistance and Veterinary Products Department (AMR&VP Department) Head of Department (HoD)

Job purpose

The ANIMUSE Project Officer will improve transparency in antimicrobial use (AMU) data worldwide by contributing to the capacity building of users to ANImal antiMicrobial USE (ANIMUSE) Global Database, verification from Member and non-Members to WOAH. He/she further will contribute to the provision of data analysis and trend monitoring, as well as to the preparation of regular reports on the global and regional situation. He/she will also contribute to capacity building of Members through the delivery of national focal point (NFP) trainings and regional technical coordination meetings Responsible for ensuring the performance of the activities of the team and contributes to providing strategic guidance and support to the development of activities.

Missions and activities

Participate in the management of AMU-related data in relation to ANIMUSE

·       Support the function of the department as data owner for all AMU-related data (including improving data analysis, data cleaning, defining and monitoring data mapping and data management rules);

·       Support in the design and review of data integration guidelines between AMU national database and ANIMUSE;

·       Liaise with countries, external experts and WOAH regional and sub-regional representations to provide support in the development and implementation of data analysis, data cleaning and data integration guidelines;

·       Contribute to initiatives to evolve data analysis in ANIMUSE;

·       Support the Working Group on AMR as required;

·       Participate in the development of communication user guidelines materials for ANIMUSE.

 

Contribute to the AMU data collection and development of AMU data national reports, by,

·       Performing analysis of the collected data as required;

·       Developing a training programme targeted to writing AMU national reports;

·       Participating in the review and improvement of ANIMUSE Database and supporting technical documentation;

·       Liaising with National Focal Points (NFPs) on collection issues and provide support in the provision of annual data;

·       Contributing to the monitoring of collected data to identify inconsistencies and liaise with NFPs to address information gaps as required;

·       Contributing to the preparation of WOAH Annual Report on Antimicrobial Agents Intended for Use in Animals.

 

While completing the above missions and activities, the incumbent will:

·       Contribute within the perimeter of her/his responsibilities to the overall achievement of the WOAH’s five strategic objectives: maintain or improve scientific expertise, implement appropriate data governance, respond to Member’s needs, optimise cooperation with partners and enhance WOAH’s internal agility and efficiency;

·       Carry out other applicable duties within her/his professional competence as requested by the Head of AMR & VP Department, the Deputy Director General or the Director General of WOAH.

Qualifications and Experience

Required qualifications and experience

·       Graduate degree in veterinary sciences (DVM) or pharmacological fields.

·       At least 5 years or working experience, with at least 3 years of experience in data management and analysis.

·       Reporting writing experience.

 

Additional experience (asset)

·       Understanding on regulatory processes of veterinary medicines.

 

Expected Skills

Technical skills

·       Analytical thinking.

·       Sound knowledge of statistical and data analysis and processes (cleaning diverse data sets, performing data analyses, support data interpretation, and visualising outputs);

·       Ability to identify trends, to provide insight, and to offer expertise on how to achieve goals using data;

·       Excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

·       Proficient management of MS Excel, and good working knowledge of MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS TEAMS, SharePoint and other web-based software applications

·       Good knowledge of PowerBi (or equivalent) and R (desirable);

·       Good knowledge of French or Spanish (desirable)

Salaire

Working conditions

·       Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience.

·       Type of contract: WOAH Staff – Fixed-term contract.

·       Duration: One (1) year renewable upon the extension of funding grant and satisfactory performance evaluation

·       Location: WOAH Headquarters 12 rue de Prony 75017 Paris, France

·       The post is a full-time position based at the WOAH Headquarters in Paris and requires long hours in a seated position at a computer. It can entail missions abroad.
