The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH – founded as OIE) is a leading intergovernmental organisation representing 183 Members worldwide. Through its activities, WOAH makes a decisive contribution to improving animal health, protecting animal welfare and strengthening Veterinary Services. The Organisation provides transparent information on world’s animal health situation, and promotes international standards, particularly in terms of the safety of trade in live animals and animal products. Job Description | |
Positioning and reporting
Reporting to the Director General, and in close coordination with the Deputy Directors General, the Chief of Staff is a member of the Organisation’s Executive Committee |

Job purpose
The Chief of Staff will support the Director General in her activities and communication from both a strategic and operational point of view. To this end, he/she will endeavour to engage in constructive dialogue with the WOAH teams (Headquarters and Regional and Sub-Regional Representations) in order to obtain an overview of the Organisation’s activities and support the Director General in preparing and managing her files, interviews and travel. The Head of Advocacy will report directly to him/her. He/she will work closely with the Executive Assistant. |

Missions and Activities
Support the Director General , working closely with the Executive Assistant, in organising interviews, speaking engagements and travel. Manage the DG’s communications in close collaboration with the Communications Department Prepare meetings of the Executive Committee (weekly) and the Management Committee (quarterly) of WOAH, and following up on decisions taken as a result. Supervise the Organisation’s advocacy activities with the support of the Senior Advocacy Adviser. Supervise correspondence on sensitive issues in conjunction with Executive Committee members Oversee the production, formal quality and approval schedule of the Organisation’s cross-functional documents requiring the signature of the Director General Assume responsibility for the protocol with the support of the relevant departments of the Organisation Keep a watch on all WOAH activities and in particular on priority subjects Coordinate clearly identified issues as and when required by General Management Contribute to the development of the 8th strategic plan and to work on the governance review. |

Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications required – Graduate degree (Bac+5 or equivalent) in management, public administration, legal affairs, public health, veterinary sciences or other, Additional qualifications required Expected skills Technical skills – Excellent knowledge of WOAH and international veterinary public health activities Additional skills required – Professional command of written and spoken Spanish. Personal and interpersonal skills – Excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy and negotiation skills |

Working conditions
– Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience; This is a full-time position based at WOAH headquarters in Paris, requiring long hours sitting in front of a computer. It may involve assignments abroad. |
