About us
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, since more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI’s interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, the SI teams – 3200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.
About the mission
Lebanon hosts about 1.5 million Syrian refugees, mainly in its Northern governorates (Akkar and Tripoli) and in the Bekaa Valley. SI has been working in Lebanon since March 2013, to address the immediate needs of both Syrian refugees and Lebanese citizens affected by the crisis. In recent years, SI has transitioned to more integrated programs, and now addresses basic needs such as WASH, Shelter, Health and protection (the 2 latter through partnerships). In 2020, SI Lebanon started an ambitious DRRM project which aims at developing a river-basin integrated model to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies such as floods. In 2021, SI Lebanon started a WASH project to work with local Water authorities (North Lebanon Water Establishment) to improve the functioning of water supply networks. SI is also addressing the consequences of the Beirut Blast response through a two-phased project to rehabilitate damaged dwelling units and public spaces (in partnership with the Lebanese and French Red Cross).

Expériences / Formation
Expériences / Formation:
About the job
General objective:
The Field Coordinator is the main representative of SI in the area of action and within the base. She/he ensures that SI’s strategy in the area is adapted to the humanitarian needs and ensures that programming is roled out with the adequate resources and according to SI standards. She/he is responsible for managing the base’s activities in an autonomous way, ensuring sound liaison with local authorities and adequate security management.
The main challenges:
Ensuring that the base manages to absorb the geographical expansion (inclusive of the opening of a sub-office in Ras Baalbak) and the increased number of donors and of overall budget. Staff management represents a significant challenge: new staff were hired during the recent emergency response and a turnover in the FieldCoo position has taken place since summer 2024.
Priorities for the 2/3 first months:
Ensuring sound project implementation for already active grants. Continue the progressive switch of operational focus towards the Northern Bekaa (Baalbak/Hermel), further reinforcing access with local political actors. Establish sound staff management with clear roles and responsibilities
