15/12/2024Medical coordinator – Greece
Med’EqualiTeam is a French non-profit organization, created in July 2018. Our aim is to provide free health care to displaced populations, who wouldn’t otherwise have access to it due to any kind of barriers or lack of physicians.
Since December 2023, we have also been working in northern Greece to fill the huge gap in medical care felt by both the street population in the urban center and the camps housing asylum seekers around Thessaloniki.
Our actions focus mainly on:
- The establishment of free medical consultations in different locations
- Developing an health education program
The team is volunteer-based and international (doctors, nurses, medical students). The coordination is remote (projects coordinator of the NGO) and on the ground (Field coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator and Medical Coordinator).
Job description
As a Medical Coordinator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the clinics and associated logistics (pharmacy and medical supplies orders). You will also be responsible for complex medical cases, referrals and patient experience – ensuring medical procedures are followed and suggesting improvements to processes.
You will be the point of contact for medical volunteers and ensure they are well integrated into the medical team. You’ll also liaise with other NGOs and medical organisations and organise referrals. Regular reporting and monitoring of the project will be part of the role.
Finally you will also be involved in overseeing the health education programme – while a long-term volunteer will be the main focal point, content and improvements will be the responsibility of the Medical Coordinator.
What do we expect from you?
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on and proactive medical coordinator who loves being part of an international team and cares for people on the move. You have excellent organizational skills, are flexible, and able to think out of the box. You should be a medical doctor or nurse/nurse practitioner, with at least 2 years of work experience and have experience working in similar environments and leading teams.
This is a volunteer position with a stipend – we cannot facilitate entry into Greece or obtain a visa.
