SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, since more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI’s interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, the SI teams – 3200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.
About the mission
With the outbreak of the conflict in April 2023 and forced evacuation of Khartoum and West Darfur (El Geneina), SI was the first international NGO to re-enter Darfur and resume its emergency response. SI is since working in West Darfur, North Darfur, Gedaref et Khartoum, thanks to the support of SHF, CDCS, ECHO and BHA across WASH, Shelter and NFI support, Food Security and Livelihood sectors. In November 2024, SI opened a Field Office in Zalingei, Central Darfur and is planning to extend its operation within the State accross WASH and Shelter/NFI. SI also implements Cash and Voucher assistance (prioritizing sectoral cash for food) and is setting up Redrose. Zalingei office was originally a sub-office of Geneina Field Office and is currently in the process of splitting up with a full team (Field Coo, Log / Admin recruited). WASH and Shelter/NFI projects have just started.
